Getting Started with the D2L Gradebook

Note: Because the D2L gradebook is highly customizable and communicates especially consequential information to students, we highly encourage PSU faculty to work with the OAI Support Desk to set up a gradebook for the first time.

Release Calculated Grade to Students

Grades in the D2L Grade Book can be released to students at any time during the term. Use the following steps to release a calculated score to your students. Until you release the calculated grade, students are only able to see individual items in the Grade Book, not a combined score.

  1. Click on Grades and then Grades from the course navigation bar.
  2. Click on the Settings icon in the upper right corner of the page.
  3. Click on the Org Unit Display Options tab.
  4. Under Grade Details, check the three boxes.
  5. Click on the Calculation Options tab.
  6. Make sure the check boxes for Automatically release final grade and Automatically keep final grades updated are checked.
  7. Click Save and Close.
